Former Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy strongly condemned the suspension of 150 Agriculture Extension Officers (AEOs) for refusing to participate in the Digital crop survey.

Hyderabad: Former Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy strongly condemned the suspension of 150 Agriculture Extension Officers  for refusing to participate in the digital crop survey. He criticized the undue pressure being placed on AEOs under the guise of the digital crop survey.

Reddy pointed out that in other states, such surveys are conducted with the assistance of agencies and other departments following central government directives. However, in Telangana, the burden is unfairly placed solely on Agriculture Extension Officers.

He reminded that the state had created 1,500 new AEO posts and established 2,601 Rythu Vedikas to support farmers. Reddy questioned the diversion of funds meant for the digital crop survey and raised concerns over the safety of AEOs, many of whom are women, being sent to remote agricultural fields without proper protection.

Reddy emphasized that governance should not rely on intimidation. He urged the appointment of necessary support staff for the digital crop survey and recommended outsourcing the task to agencies.
