Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the Supreme Court has given a strong verdict on EVM-VVPATs and rejected the argument that elections should be held in the old-fashioned manner in the form of paper ballots. “Today is a very auspicious day for democracy. “The Congress and the RJD have never respected the Constitution of India.

Araria: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the Supreme Court has given a strong verdict on EVM-VVPAT and rejected the argument that elections should be held in the old manner in the form of paper ballot. “Today is a very auspicious day for democracy. “The Congress and the RJD have never respected the Constitution of India. Addressing an election rally in Bihar’s Araria on Friday, the Prime Minister said that booth capturing was a common thing in Bihar during the tenure of the previous regimes. The Prime Minister also accused the Congress of planning to bring Bihar’s Muslims under the OBC quota.

“The Congress and the RJD have never counted on the Constitution or democracy. For decades, people were not allowed to exercise their right to vote. Booth capturing was a common thing. People were not even allowed to come out to vote. It’s not like that now. EVMs are the strength of the poor and honest voters. That’s why the Congress and the RJD have made efforts to get rid of EVMs. However, today the Supreme Court has given a very clear verdict. There is no question of bringing back the voting of ballot papers in the old system,” the Prime Minister said.

Just like Karnataka.

The Prime Minister also accused the Congress of wanting to bring Muslims under the ambit of OBC reservation on the lines of Karnataka. He accused the Congress of conspiring to snatch away the rights of SCs, STs and OBCs. He explained that he is saying this with a lot of responsibility. “Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar had very clearly said that there should be no religious reservation.

But, the Congress party is trying to implement religion-based reservations. “The Congress has betrayed the OBC community in Karnataka and included Muslims in the OBC list irrespective of their financial status. As a result, 27 per cent of the obcs’ share has now gone into the account of Muslims. Modi alleged that the Congress wants the same procedure to be implemented in Bihar and other parts of the country.
