Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) President and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azad Anant Nag is contesting from Rajouri Lok Sabha seat.
Srinagar, April 02: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is contesting from the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat. To this extent, the leader of the party, Taj Mehiuddin, disclosed this in Srinagar on Tuesday. But he said that his party is not tying up with other parties.
He said that because the time was short. On the other hand, the discussions with the leaders of other political parties did not progress. Besides, the leaders of other parties are not showing much interest in the Anantnag seat. He said that DPAP would go ahead with this. He clarified that the candidates for the Lok Sabha seats in Kashmir will be decided and announced soon.
Anantnag, Shopian, Kulgam district in south Kashmir along with the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region. Anantnag is under the Rajouri Lok Sabha constituency.
National Conference leader and former judge Hasnain Masoodi is the current Lok Sabha member from Anantnag-Rajouri. In the last election, he won against PDP President Mehbooba Mufti from this constituency.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the polling process is going on in five phases. Polling will be held first in Udhampur on April 19, Jammu on April 26, Anantnag Rajouri on May 7, Srinagar on May 13, and Baramulla on May 20. The counting of votes will be done on June 4. Azad, who was in the Congress party for decades, resigned from that party in 2022. Later in the same year, he founded a political party called the Democratic Progressive Azad Party.
