Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s Delhi residence was searched by the Enforcement Directorate(ED).

The Enforcement Directorate searched Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s Delhi residence and seized Rs. 36 lakh, an SUV, and some “incriminating” documents, official sources said on Tuesday. The federal agency on Monday searched the JMM leader’s 5/1 Shanti Niketan residence in south Delhi and camped there for nearly 13 hours to question him in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land deal case in Jharkhand.

In this day-long operation, about Rs. 36 lakh in cash, an HR (Haryana) number plate with BMW, and some documents registered under Benami’s name were recovered by the ED teams, the sources said.

Soren, 48, informed the ED that he was ready to testify before them at 1 pm on Wednesday at his Ranchi residence.

All the legislators of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led ruling coalition in Jharkhand have been asked not to leave the state capital and attend a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the current political situation in the state, a party official said in Ranchi.
